More than 70 years JSC “Uzmetkombinat” is among the manufacturers of metal products. It began its work activity from 5th of  March 1944, the start of open-hearth furnace..

 In 1994, the Uzbek metallurgical plant as a result of its Association with Shirin machine-building plant and self-management of enterprises “Vtorchermet”, was transformed into an open joint stock company “Uzbek Metallurgical Plant” in accordance with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On establishment of joint stock company “Uzbek Metallurgical Plant”, dated from 24th of  March 1994, No. 159.

All the past years the plant  marked a strong belief in the course of technical progress, the construction of new production lines, equipment modernization, innovation, reconstruction. Commissioning (in 1962) of the continuous casting of steel, increasing the capacity of casting ladles, reconstruction of the mill “300” helped to improve operational efficiency, improve product quality.

In the 70s were built and put into operation a steel plant enamelware, arc-furnace plant in the early 80’s began production of long products and billets, the new Rolling Mill number 2. In the 90s were commissioned pipe welding shop and plot producing grinding balls with a diameter of 67 mm and 100 mm.

In accordance with the concept of development of metallurgical industry in the Republic, at the plant develops new products and introduce new objects.

1991 Workshop on production of electric-welded pipes.
1994 Two ball-rolling mill for the production of grinding balls with diameter 67-80mm, with an annual capacity of 100 thousand tons.
1998 Planning permission for the production of glass. The annual capacity of 2 million. Pieces of products.
2001 Reconstruction of the oxygen compressor plant. The annual capacity of 700 thousand. M3 of oxygen. Organization of production of grinding balls with a diameter of 120mm. The annual capacity of 25 thousand tons.
2002 Reconstruction of electric smelting plant. Setting the furnace DSP-100 UMP. The annual capacity of 500 thousand tons.
2006 Organization of production of rolled strips of copper and its alloys. The annual capacity of 3500 thousand tons.
       Reconstruction of the shaft lime kiln with an annual capacity of 120 tons.
2007. Organization of rolled rebars on carbide rolls TWS-2.
       Extension of the drawing with the production of wire rod with an annual capacity of 6000 tons.
       Section for the production of welding electrodes with an annual capacity of 500 tons.
2008. Development of new technologies for processing slag dumps steelmaking with an annual capacity of 8 thousand tons.
       Modernization of the ball-rolling mill with increased production of grinding balls SPO-1. With an annual capacity of 160 thousand tons.
       Reconstruction of gas cleaning arc furnace DSP-100 CMD.
       Reconstruction of the vent path from the arc furnace DSP-100 CMD.
       Modernization of electric steel furnace DSP-100 CMD with the replacement of the furnace transformer. The annual capacity of 650 thousand tons.
2009. Reconstruction of reheating furnace rolling shop №2.
       Reconstruction of the recovery boiler PAC-75/24 rolling shop №2
       Reconstruction of pump-storage station (US).
       DSP-100 CMD with replacement power regulator and controller of the arc.
       Modernization of electrical substation “Furnace” with the installation of compensating devices and replacement of relay protection.
2010. Modernization of electrical equipment and automated control systems of rolling mill “300” TWS-2.
2011. Organization of production of copper and brass foil. The annual capacity of 2000 tons.
2012. Replacement of obsolete unit K5 №2 on modern air separation unit with an annual capacity of 87.6 million. M3.
       Reconstruction of the heating furnace methodical TWS -1 with an annual capacity of 200 thousand tons.
       Modernization of copra processing shop 670 thousand. Tons of scrap metal and waste.
       Removal of the substation “Metallurgy” 220/110/10 KV with the removal of circuit overhead transmission line 220.110 HF.
2013. Reconstruction of the continuous casting machine (CCM №3 ESMS) with the transition to steel casting section 200×200 mm with the introduction of energy-saving technologies with an annual capacity of 850 thousand tons.
     Expansion of production capacity with the construction of plants for liquid steel vacuum unit with the reconstruction of the complex processing of steel with an annual capacity of 150 thousand tons.


JSC “Uzmetkombinat”  is the only enterprise of ferrous metallurgy in Central Asia. Plant is a basic sector, is in close connection with all other industries, so the development of the steel industry in the Republic is a top national priority of the current stage of economic development.

1955 - From Birth to a Period of Growth

Nippon Gakki Hamana Factory established in Hamakita-cho (present Hamamatsu city), Hamana-gun, Shizuoka Pref and production of our first product, the 125cc Yamaha motorcycle “YA-1” begins.

1970 - Creation of Demand and New Business

Yamaha Motor Canada Limited (YMCA) founded in Canada. Signed joint venture agreement with Brunswick Co. (U.S.) and Brunswick invests in Sanshin Industries.
